Rochester Invitational

                        We Did It!!!!!!!
One of the GOALS of the dancers was to hear their name announced at the competitions for placing.  They have worked HARD to get to this point.  They deserve the glory and recognition of their efforts.

They placed fourth at the  2011 Rochester John Marshall Invitational.

They knew that their dance was good when they left the floor.  Their  Smiles were huge.

The judges are beginning to notice this team.

One of our biggest obstacles is getting space to practice.  This team was kicked out of their assigned practice space three times in the days prior to competition.  We were kicked out twice in one day!  We have begged to get space at any gym or cafeteria in the district.  We have traveled to other schools to practice and been kicked out by Jazzercise people who wanted to get into the space early to get set up!  We end up practicing in a hallway.  If you have ever seen the dance-you know there is not a hallway big enough to run through the dance correctly.  They practice by standing in one spot.  We NEED the support of our School-give us the space to practice our VARSITY sport!

We are new and Improved

After the Apple Valley Invitational, we heard some talk about Roseville Raiderettes.  Nothing compared to what is being said after the Cretin conference.  People are beginning to notice we are ready to take our turn in the spotlight.  We have worked hard and the results are coming in now. 

The Varsity Kick scored 4th at the Cretin conference.  Missing out on 3rd by one point.  One judge actually ranked us #1.

Phone calls have been made commenting on our dancers.  How much they have improved.

                We are ready to WIN!

Come watch us at our next competition at Moundsview High School on  Monday, December 12th.

Spaghetti Feed

Our First Spaghetti Feed was held last night.  It was FUN!
Thank you to Shelli and Paul
 who planned, purchased the materials, cooked, set up the facilities and cleaned up.  Next time we will ask for more volunteers.

We are now excited for our first competition is today Saturday at Apple Valley.  This is where our competition will see the NEW Raiderettes Team for the first time. 
            There will be SHOCK AND AWE!

Fundraiser Blitz

We had our first of two fundraiser blitzes today. 

The Good news is that it did not SNOW!  If you can remember, last year the fundraiser was held during a BLIZZARD.  I think we raised a lot of money due to the sympathy.

The GREAT news is that we have enough money for our costumes.  YEAH!  It is about time this time updated our look.  Plus with the increase in dancers, we need more just to put all the dancers on the floor.

A big THANK YOU to all the DANCERS, who helped their team out today.  You earned your new costumes.  And we will not forget the DRIVERS who spent the day once again helping the team-THANK YOU!

We also need to Thank the Coach Brittany for setting up this fundraiser.

Our next Fundraiser will be November 19.  We will meet at 11:30, after practice.  We will need adults drivers for our team.  If you can help us again-Please contact Coach Brittany.

We need Gym Space

Roseville Raiderettes Dance Team is a Varsity Competitive SPORT.  Why can we NOT get Gym Space?  Why do we get assigned to the Cafeteria to practice. 

Our SPORT competes on a Gym Floor.  When we cannot practice on the same floor, it affects our dance.  The marks on the floor and ceiling helps the dancers mark their position.  Gym practice time correlates directly with the ranking amongst other teams-INCREASED GYM TIME INCREASES SCORES.  The tile floor in the cafe is also not appropriate for the legs and joints of the dancers.  They are prone to more injuries and sprains.  The Gym is also larger so the dance can be completed in full.  The Gym also allows the Varsity and Junior Varsity to practice at the same time.

Roseville Raiderettes needs more time in a Gym to practice their SPORT.

New Secure Website for Dancers and Parents

We have a new website that is secure for all dancers and parents of dancers.  This website is by invitation only.  If you are a dancer or their parent or guardian, you can email me-Janet at Jensen4us@comcast.net.  Include your dancer name and parents names, email addresses and  phone numbers.  I will set you up and send out an invitation.

This website will post pictures, videos and contain up to date information on the team-including schedules and important information.  You can also find ways to support our team.

The practice for Saturday, October 28th has changed to 8:30-12:00 at RAMS.

Clearance slip from Athletics department-you cannot dance without this slip.

Water Bottle-you will not have enough time to stand at fountains.

Workout clothes or dance wear-no jeans -you need to be able to move.

Healthy Snacks-you might want some energy.

Hair binders-your hair must be in a secured ponytail or bun.

Introducing Erin Kruesi

Erin Kruesi is a 9 year veteran coach of Minnesota High School Dance Teams across the state.  She was Head coach at Watertown-Mayer (2003-04), Robbinsdale Armstrong (2004-2007), and co-coached at Cannon Falls(2007-2011).  Erin has lead teams to 2 state championships, 7 conference championships, numerous all-state and all-conference dancers, and dancers that have gone on to dance on college and professional teams including the U of M.  Erin has also been recognized as MADT class A assistant coach of the year in both 2009 and 2010,as well as receiving a UDA Association coaches leadership award in 2007.  Erin is an active member of the Minnesota Association of Dance Teams, choreographs for the MADT all-state performance, and teaches at numerous clinics and camps each year around the state.  In 2011, Erin started Minnesota High School Dance Team Online, the only online source for dance team information and scores in Minnesota.  Erin is a graduate of Apple Valley high school (a former A Vaire) and the University of Minnesota with a degree in Microbiology,  She currently works for the Aveda corporation.

WE WILL NEED THE DANCERS FROM MORNING TILL 5PM

WE ALSO NEED ADULTS WHO ARE ABLE TO HELP DRIVE.  YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED A GROUP OF DANCERS AND AN AREA; AND WILL STAY WITH THEM WHILE THEY GO DOOR TO DOOR.

Get you paperwork NOW!  Get it filled out, check for accuracy and necessary signatures before you turn it in.  Be sure to have your Sports Physical on file in the Athletics Department.

Summary of support meeting

We held our first Dancer Support Meeting on October 6th.  We will have a meeting the first Thursday of every month starting at 7pm.  The girls will be having practice this night so feel free to join us.

Lots of changes for this year for dancers.
Be ready for an intense year of dance.
Get your paper work.  Turn it in to Athletic Office.

Lots of changes this year for Supporters of Dancers
  We need two volunteers to help videotape every competition.  You can contact me if you are able to help in this area.  We need every dance taped to help the coaches look for areas to improve.  They would like the dance put on a disc or you can hand them the card(chip) so they can download and transfer.  They would like this done ASAP, and your chip would be returned promptly.

We also need to make a presence in the stands.  Ideally, we should sit together, wear RAIDER wear and be loud in our cheering.  Yes, they will hear  and see you.  This energizes them.  We need volunteers to stay near entrance doors to help direct people to where we will sit.

We also need help to provide food for the bus trips to our competitions. 

We will be forming committees to work on the following areas-bus trip food, banquet and fundraising.  If you could help in any of these areas pleas contact Janet  at Jensen4us@comcast.net.

WOW! WHAT A NIGHT

The Fall Dance Team performed during  Homecoming Football Half time show last night.  Wow, what a show!

The dance was full of energy, even though the dancers were freezing and could not feel their fingers.  They also did not let the Gorilla or Banana stop the performance.

They will also perform at the October 14th football game.  You still have an opportunity to watch them perform.  Hope to see you there!

CALLING ALL SUPPORTERS OF RAIDERETTE DANCERS

We will be having a DANCER SUPPORT GROUP MEETING  on October 6th starting at 7pm at Caribou Coffee on Snelling and County Rd B, across from Har Mar Mall
.

We will be holding regular meetings of our DANCER SUPPORT GROUP  on the first Thursday of every month.  Our goals this year will established at this first meeting-we hope everyone will attend.

Pick up paperwork at the athletics office the week of October 10th - 14th. Also pick up the dance team information sheet.   Be sure to get all the required signatures and payment for fees for participation in a winter sport and have a valid sports physical on file.  Paper work must be completed and turned in (along with winter sports fee) the week of October 17th-21st.  BE SURE TO GET YOUR CLEARANCE SLIP FROM THE ATHLETICS OFFICE.  I NEED A SLIP FROM ALL DANCERS BEFORE YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PRACTICE.  NO SLIP MEANS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DANCE!

Check now to see if you have a valid sports physical on file with the althletics office.  This must be on file before you attend any practices

RAHS FALL DANCE

Fall Dance starts on Friday, September 9th from 3-5pm.

Practice will be held on Monday,Wednesday and Fridays from 3-5pm thru  October 14th.

RULES:
Attend all practices
Attend all performances  September 30th and
                       October 14th
Be on TIME
Come wearing dance clothes
No food at practice
Only water and Gatorade at practice
Always wear dance shoes or tennis shoes
Remember to smile and have fun
 

There will be no fall dance at RAMS this year-Sorry.  Try to attend attend the performances at the football games on September 30th and October 14th.  This will give you the opportunity to learn more about this sport.

New Schedule for Winter Season-

The Dance Practice Schedule will change for the 2011-12 school year.  We will add Tues to our practice schedule.    MON, Tues, Wed and Fri practices will be from 3pm-6pm.  Thursday from 6pm-9pm.  We will also include some practices on Saturday, probably from 8am-noon.

Now it a great time to talk with others dancers and try to arrange for rides or carpooling.  Remember this is a team event and we need to help our team get together and get back home.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS

The FUNDRAISER BLITZ will be held on November 12th and November 19th.  I will start early morning until 4-5 in the evening.  WE HOPE FOR NO SNOWSTORM.  We need ALL DANCERS to attend, so mark your calendars now and plan ahead.

We would like to purchase new costumes this year.  New costumes will cost A LOT.  With that said, the motivation should be there to sell lots.  Everyone is needed to make this goal.

Please address any concerns with these dates now, so we have time to figures things out ahead of time.

A huge Thank you goes out to all the Dancers that helped out at the Car wash on Friday.  It was successful.  I think having car washes next year on Friday would be a good opportunity.

We also need to Thank the parents that made the car washes possible.  We need to thank Kimberly's Grandparents for providing a hose, nozzle, signs and washing/drying and storing of towels.  Sam's parents for providing awesome signage along with water, treats and Dilly Bars from DQ.  Kari's parents for the buckets,soap and towels.  Sarah's mom for providing the tent, chairs and water. We also need to thank parents that volunteered to monitor the car wash.  I know I learned a lot about the girls and how they worked together when I worked the car wash.   I am sure I have forgotten others, but we appreciate everyone's contribution.  It takes everyone working together  to make this fundraiser and all fundraisers successful.

Some of dancers realized that this was their last car wash fundraiser.  Remember you can always come back next year and help.

CARWASH

CARWASH AT STEICHENS

AFTER A VERY CHILLY AND SLOW START THE CAR WASH STARTED TO HEAT UP. AT ONE POINT, WE HAD A LINE UP AROUND THE BUILDING.  WE HAD ONE MAN THAT CAME BACK TO GET BOTH OF HIS CARS DONE.  A LOT OF PEOPLE DECIDED TO LET OUR DANCERS WASH THEIR CARS RATHER THAN GO TO SUPERAMERICA OR THE DOWNTOWNER CARWASH.  THEY FELT THE MONEY WENT TO A BETTR CAUSE-OUR DANCE TEAM

 THANKS TO ALL THE DANCERS THAT PARTICIPATED. 
THANKS ALSO TO THE PARENTS THAT HELP SUPERVISE, BROUGHT SNACKS,JUICE AND SANDWICHES.
ALSO A BIG THANK YOU TO STEICHENS FOR ALLOWING US TO HOLD THE CARWASH ON THEIR PROPERTY.

THE FUNDS FROM THIS CARWASH WILL HELP OFFSET SOME OF THE COSTS OF THE JULY DANCE CAMP.

SUMMER TEAM WORKSHOP

Join the team!  Take master classes exclusively for Raiderettes Dance Team members and tailored directly to you. Through ballet and progressions, you will improve your lines. flexibility, turns and leaps in just 6 weeks with the guidance of master instructor-Amber Keeley.

Amber has taught and trained around the world and is currently the director of Out on a Limb Dance Company & School in St. Paul.  She is also the ballet coach for the National Champion University of St. Thomas(Tommies)dance team.  She believes the hard work it takes to be a dancer should be FUN.  LET'S GET TO WORK!

All dancers on the team are encouraged to take this workshop.  Do not worry if you haven't had ballet before, Amber will tailor the lessons to match all ability/experience levels.  This will greatly improve us as a team and will give us a huge boost to our 2011-2012 season!

THURSDAY JUNE 9TH-JULY 14TH 7:30-8:30PM AT RAHS
SESSION FEE $90 FOR 6 WEEKS

Note:Wear your hair neatly and tightly back.  Wear any color leotard and tights with your regular dance shoes.  Form-fitting black dance shorts are acceptable.  No Jewelry, please.COME READY TO SWEAT AND HAVE A BLAST!

Thanks to all who helped

A special THANK YOU to all the dancers and their friends and the parents that helped at the Cub Food fundraiser in Arden Hills. 
We had a great time.  It was a lot of work for the dancers, especially those who put in longer shifts-Mosolowa, Megan and Mosope-who just joined our group of dancers;Hayley- who has now completed two fundraisers before she even joined; Fortune and Michelle; also our evening group of Kimberly, Lily, Maddie and Allana.  Ariel, Rachel, Willaya, Haley,Juliana, Eden and Makendra - also helped in the morning.  While Darcy, Annie and Kailey helped fill out our evening group.

 We can not forget the parents.  Without your support we could not have transported the girls to and from Cub Foods in Arden Hills.  Also those who stayed to chaperon the dancers as they worked to help support the team-Millie and Harvey, Susan and Mike, Janet, Vicky and Coach Brittany.  If I forgot someone- I apologize.  Please let me know so I can rectify the error.  (I am terrible with names-forgive me).

We raised about $1000000817.00  Yes that is correct! Over a Trillion Dollars.  We Found a Trillion dollar bill in our bucket.  I will try to add a photo of our bill as soon as I a figure out how to upload the picture.

We received Tons of compliments about our Dancers.  That is a Tribute to all of our Parents of the Dancers.  We raised the girls to be RESPECTFUL, HARDWORKING AND DEDICATED. 
To the dancers, when we kept you standing or asked you to stay off the salt, or broke up your conversations it was for a good reason,  People-shoppers and store personnel were watching you.  They were judging you-whether you were worthy of their hard earned cash.  Just like a dance where they judge you by the height of your kicks or the smiles on your faces - the shoppers in the store determine the amount of the donation by your behaviour.
We met people associated with other dance teams.  Mothers of coaches, grandparents of dancers, brother or cousin of a dancer and parents of a dancer.  They realized the hard work needed to fund the needs of a dance team and donated to support the GROWTH OF OUR DYNASTY- AS STATED BY THE GRANDFATHER OF A CANNON FALLS DANCER.  We were supported by people associated with Moundsview, Cannon Falls, Osceola, Forest Lake and Irondale.  So remember when see a fundraiser being held-remember those who helped to support us.

A SPECIAL THANKS ALSO BELONG TO THE CUB FOOD STORE IN ARDEN HILLS.  JEFF, THE MAN IN CHARGE OF FUNDRAISERS WHO ALSO PROVIDED SNACKS AND DRINKS FOR OUR DANCERS, AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO HOLD THE FUNDRAISER AT HIS STORE.  WE CAN'T FORGET THE DELI THAT PROVIDED A HOT PIZZA FOR THE DANCERS TO HELP KEEP UP THEIR ENERGY.  THIS STORE WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP US.  RETURN THE FAVOR AND PATRONIZED THEIR STORE.  IF YOU HAPPEN TO SEE JEFF-BE SURE TO THANK HIM PERSONALLY.  A GREAT BIG THANKS TO CUB FOODS FOR SUPPORTING OUR TEAM.

On a side note.  I must pass on the comments overheard by some Moundsview patrons.  They saw our dancers and commented that we were invading their territory

Remember the Linders fundraiser

Remember to pass out the coupons for the Linder's Greenhouses for Mother's Day weekend.  I realize that it is hard to think Spring when there are still chances for SNOW in the forecast.  In fact, I have not seen many greenhouses set up yet.
  But         PLEASE HAND OUT THE COUPONS TO YOUR FRIENDS NEIGHBORS AND                COWORKERS
This is an easy way to collect funds for the team with minimal effort.

SUMMER CAMP

Meeting for JUST FOR KIX Summer Camp will be held Saturday May 28th at 10am at Caribou Coffee located on Rice Street close to Hwy 694. You must attend this meeting if you want to attend Summer Camp-Redwood Falls July 10th-13th.

Camp cost will be $305, PLEASE NOTE THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE ATTIRE.  The final amount will be announced at the meeting.

Dancers come prepared to the meeting: 
                            Full (or down payment of $150)payment with checks made out to RAHS
                            Camp registrations forms printed out and completed (forms available at
                             www.justforkix.com )

TURN IN YOUR UNIFORMS

UNIFORMS WILL BE COLLECTED AT RAHS ON MONDAY MARCH 21ST, AFTER SCHOOL.  ALL THE DANCERS FROM RAMS WILL MEET IN THE CAFETERIA AFTER SCHOOL TO CATCH A RIDE TO RAHS.

BE SURE TO HAVE ALL PARTS OF YOUR UNIFORM TO AVOID RECEIVING A FINE.

If you want to become a Roseville Raiderette Dancer for the upcoming Season.  Please plan on attending the TRYOUTS held in the RAHS Cafeteria on the following days:

          Tuesday  May 24th 3-6pm
          Wednesday May 25th   3-6pm
          Thursday May 26th  6-9pm
You must attend all three days.  There is a mandatory Parents Meeting on:
           Thursday May 26th from 7:30-9

SECTIONS

THE SEASON IS OVER.  YOU SHOULD ALL BE PROUD OF YOURSELVES. 
OUR GOAL WAS TO CONSISTENTLY IMPROVE OUR SCORES AND THAT WE ACCOMPLISHED.  OUR SECTION SCORES WERE THE HIGHEST WE EVER RECEIVED!

ONE THING THAT I HAVE LEARNED THROUGH THE YEARS IS THAT TWO PEOPLE CAN LOOK AT AT THE EXACT SAME THING AND SEE SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT. 

NEXT YEAR, OTHER TEAMS WILL BE LOOKING AT OUR TEAM WITH A DIFFERENT ATTITUDE.  THEY KNOW WE ARE IMPROVING WITH EACH DANCE.  

THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT, WE WILL PUT FOOTPRINTS ON THE MOON
